Thomas Cartelyou Scott 65, affectionately known as Big Tom, entered eternal rest Friday, February 13th at Spartanburg Medical Center.
He was born to the late Thomas and Agnes Scott on April 20th 1960 in Washington, DC, where he attended public schools. Big Tom moved to Carlisle South Carolina in 1983, where he later became known around town for cooking ribs, washing cars and especially his smooth deep voice. The ladies loved his voice and many referred to him as Barry White. Tommy never met a stranger and showed everyone love. He truly loved his family and made sure to end every conversation with, "I love you" and leave every visit with a hug. He will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Edwards, one brother Knovell Scott and a niece, Skyy Edwards. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, two brothers Emmanuel (Lois)Scott and Kenneth (Latasha)Scott, four nieces Alicia (Yavia)Gipson, Kellie Edwards, Kendra Scott and Lindsay Scott. Five nephews, Emanuel Scott Jr, Knovell (Deonica) Scott, Alexander (Tugce) Scott, Maurice (Tosha) Scott and Marcus Scott, four great nephews, five great nieces and a host of cousins and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday February 21 2026 at 2pm at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel. The family will have visitation at the home of his niece, 147 Dunlap Road Carlisle SC Wednesday thru Friday from 4-8 pm. Lewis Funeral Home and Crematory has charge of the arrangements.
